Sweet Ellie

I am sitting here watching Ellie play on the floor. She is kicking her little legs, moving her arms and looking around the room all while making the cutest little noises. She loves looking at the lamp sitting on the table! I could just eat her up. I feel like I am soaking up every little thing she does as I know she is my "baby!" She is such a precious girl!
Here are a few recent pics of her. She is getting bigger each day. She is getting a double chin, rolls in those sweet legs, and is starting to lose that newborn look.

Ellie's Birth Announcement

Here is Ellie's birth announcement! I thought it turned out so cute. It really is different from my standard look of pastels, but it was fun to use something that I normally wouldn't choose. I came up with the pumpkin idea before she was born, and decided that I definitely wanted to use that idea during her 2 week pics. It is really hard to find cute birth announcements that will coordinate well with the color orange!!

Oh, and by the way, we just walked in from seeing Ellie's doctor for her 1 month visit and she was 8 pounds, 5 ounces and 21 3/4 inches long! Sweet little peanut!

***Disclaimer***
On a funny note, did anyone notice the labels on the announcements? Ummm....to say there was a mistake with Justin's skin tone is an understatement! Hilarious! I was going to send them back, but wanted to get the announcements mailed. I just decided to go ahead and use them. Justin might have some tan skin, but I don't think it is QUITE that tan! HA!

Happy 1 Month to Ellie!!

Happy 1 Month to Ellie! This precious baby girl is the sweetest little thing. She has truly been such an easy going baby so far. Throughout her entire first month, she has only gotten up once a night. She loves to sleep! In fact, that might be her very favorite thing to do these days! She also loves to be held and snuggled. She is a paci girl which makes Emmie very happy. Emmie definitely thinks that giving Ellie a pacifier will solve all her problems. :) We have her one month appointment tomorrow, so I will know how much she weighs then. She is definitely still our little peanut. She is still in newborn diapers and wears newborn or 0-3 month clothes, but both are starting to actually fit her and not seem big! She is nursing so well and I have really enjoyed that with her. However, she loves to fall asleep while eating, so it takes a little time for her to eat! :)
Ellie seems to be a little bit on the curious side. Whenever I hold her on my shoulder, she lifts that head up and looks around. She also loves to lay on the floor and look around the room. She is great during her baths and will just lay there and enjoy the warm water. She also loves the sound of the shower and will calm right down if I turn the shower on.
Lainie and Emmie absolutely adore their little sister. They love to look at her, touch her head, hold her, talk to her and are constantly saying, "She's SO cute!" with this high pitched little voice! They are precious to watch. Emmie is definitely a nurturer and loves to copy Mommy. Whatever I am doing with Ellie, she is doing with her baby dolls....precious!
We just love our little Ellie so much! She has brought so much joy to all of us and we cannot imagine life without her now.

Conversations with a 4-year old

Since Lainie was only 22 months old when I had Emmie, she really didn't pay much attention to anything that was going on with the baby at that time. However, this time around, things are very different with Ellie! She watches everything I do and loves to ask questions about the baby. The standard questions about Ellie's belly button, changing diapers, why the baby is crying, etc. are easy to answer. However, you throw the whole breastfeeding conversation into the mix, and things become interesting. Here is an example of one of our conversations:

Lainie: "Mommy, what is Ellie doing?"
Mommy: "Ellie is eating."
Lainie: "Is Ellie eating your stomach?"
Mommy: "No honey, Ellie is drinking milk. Did you know that Mommies make milk for their babies?"
Lainie: "Ellie is drinking milk?" "Where is her bottle?"
Mommy: "Well, she doesn't have a bottle because Mommy gives her milk."

The next day...
Lainie: "Mommy, is Ellie eating your thing?"
Mommy: "Well, she is drinking her milk. Remember how I told you that Mommies make milk for their babies?"
Lainie: "You are a Mommy milk bottle?"
Mommy: "Um...yes, baby. I am a Mommy milk bottle!"

HA! I really laughed out loud when she asked if Ellie was eating my thing. Hilarious! Not too long after that conversation, I pulled out the breast pump. You should have seen her....eyes as big as saucers with a new LONG list of questions. Poor thing! So much to understand around here!

Halloween Fun

Lainie and Emmie had such a fun Halloween this year! Lainie has always been a little hesitant of the whole Halloween idea until this year. She LOVED it! She did not want to stop trick or treating. We had so much fun watching the girls this year as they went from door to door. After trick or treating, we all went to Jamie and Rick's for a Halloween party. Lainie kept asking to go trick or treating while we were there! On our way home, she said, "I can go trick or treating again tomorrow!" She is already talking about next year.

Originally, Lainie was going to be Tinkerbell and Emmie was going to be Minnie Mouse. After seeing Emmie's costume, Lainie decided that she wanted to be Minnie Mouse too. The problem was it was the week of Halloween when she decided this. My mom and I went to Target hoping to find a costume for her and thankfully, they had one left! I guess the original costume for Lainie will eventually be worn since she has 2 sisters that it can be handed down to! :)

As you can see, Ellie wasn't quite as fond of the whole Halloween idea! She just wanted her Mommy to hold her. :)

The girls also had their Halloween parties at school and a costume parade to show their costumes to everyone! It was really cute. Here are a few pictures from that.
