Snow Day

We got all bundled up and ready to take pics of our snow day today. As soon as we started sledding down the driveway, my camera battery died. :( Oh well, here were the first three pics I took!

The Shackleford family walked up to our house and the kids played outside. We had lots of fun outside, ate some yummy jumbalaya for lunch, and then hung out inside our warm, cozy house while the kids watched a movie. We are enjoying being snowed in for now. Not sure how long it will be before I get stir crazy!

The View From Here

Here is the view at our house today! So far, we have about 3 inches of snow on the ground and are expected to get about 2 more inches. The girls loved playing in it today, but brrrrrr!! Baby, it's cold outside!

Emmie's 18 Month Pics and Photo Contest

Emmie had her 18-month pics made about 2 weeks ago and her sneak peek is up on Keri's blog here. They turned out SO cute! I can't wait to get them all back as this is just a handful of them. I have to give Christie and Raylin a HUGE thanks for letting us borrow the precious pettiskirt that you will see in the lollipop photos. Adorable!!! Lainie also decided she would take some pictures and wanted to wear the tutu and headband that you will see her wearing. That was totally unplanned, but she wanted to be a "ballerina" so badly, so we went for it.

As you will see on the blog, Keri is having a photo contest on Facebook for Model of the Year. The child that has the most comments or "likes" under their picture will win a free half session. You have to become a fan of her page on Facebook in order to vote. Emmie's photo is number 17 in her photo album on her page(don't laugh....let's just turn this number into a positive thing and win! HA!!) Please jump on Facebook when you have a chance and vote for sweet Em!!

Daddy Doughnut Day

Today was Daddy Doughnut Day at school. We got the girls ready and tried to take some pics before school, but we really didn't get any great ones. The funny thing is, it was not because the girls wouldn't look at the camera and smile. For some reason, Justin's eyes are super sensitive to the flash and has a terrible time taking pics without blinking! :) I am posting the best one I could get. If you look really closely, you will see a little bit of his eye! HA!

Lainie's teacher did send a picture from school and as you can tell, her camera didn't have a flash. Bless him! He really does try to not blink, but it doesn't seem to help. The girls really enjoyed having Daddy take them to school. Lainie was SO excited about her Daddy eating doughnuts with her. She is such a Daddy's girl! Both girls absolutely love their Daddy.

Snow Day

I am just getting around to posting our snow pics. Of course, we were a little disappointed with the tiny amount that we got, but Lainie and Emmie had a blast playing in it. It has been SO cold up here, so I was surprised at how long they lasted outside. With temps in the teens, I was not quite as eager to get out there as they were! :)

Fun With Uncle Bennie

Uncle Bennie came up to see us at the beginning of January. We celebrated Christmas with him and reunited with Riley! It has become a tradition for Riley to celebrate the holidays with Uncle Ben. Of course, she loves it because she is given endless amounts of treats, McD's cheeseburgers, Dingos and walks! Riley LOVES her Uncle Ben.

Lainie and Emmie also love him so much. He gave Lainie a Word World set for Christmas and it might be her favorite gift! She loves it and plays with it everyday. We all had a great time with him. He ended up buying everyone ice cream before he left. Below are pics of Lainie Bug eating her ice cream right before they left to take Riley on a walk. Love little Bug all bundled up!

Thanks Uncle Bennie for all you do for us! We hope to see you again soon!

I Heart Faces!

I found this cute blog called I Heart Faces. They have a weekly theme for photos and this weeks theme is a photo of a face! This pic of Emmie is one of my latest faves, so I decided to enter it!

Happy 18 Months to Emmie!!

Happy 18 Months to sweet Emmie! On your 1/2 birthday, you are developing into quite the toddler and moving on from those baby days. You seem to be growing up so quickly! Daddy and I think you are pretty smart as you catch on to things very quickly for such a little girl. Here is what you are up to these days!
*You love to sing and dance. Your favorite songs are "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." You can sing the tune of a song using your baby babble, which is pretty cute!
*You absolutely love to read. Many times during the day, you will bring a book to Mommy and sit in my lap for me to read it to you. Of course, you always "back up" into my lap which just cracks me up! Your favorite books are "Goodnight Moon" and the Peedie/Gossie/Gertie series.
*Just this week, you had a stinky diaper while you were with Daddy. You brought Daddy the wipes and a diaper, and then proceeded to lay down on the ground to be changed. I came home and Daddy claimed you were "genius!"

*You still can throw a mean temper tantrum. You are also never afraid to throw a loud, ear piercing squeal in the mix just to spice things up.
*You and Lainie play well together, but also argue over toys quite a bit. For some reason, you do not fear Lainie Bug at all. You never think twice about pulling her hair, hitting her, or screaming at her if she makes you mad.
*You love, love, love to eat! Several times a day, you will open the pantry and pull out crackers, Cheerios, etc. Whatever you can grab, you will pull off the shelf. You always take the box, sit on the ground, and proceed to eat whatever you could find!

*You have a little lovie that we call "Bunny." You love Bunny and your pacifier.
*You want to be outside all of the time! Rain, sleet, hail or snow....you don't care. 80 degrees or 20 degrees...doesn't matter as long as you are outside!
*Some words you are saying these days: baby, Riley, duck, Mommy, Da Da, lights, dog

*You blow kisses, give hugs, and wave bye-bye. You also know where your nose is and your ears. We have been working on your eyes and mouth, but you don't always know where they are.
*You are starting to take one nap during the day in the afternoon. There are some days where you still will nap twice, but for the most part, you have given up your morning nap.

*You love shoes. You love to play with any shoes that might be laying around...grosses Mommy right out! :)
*You love to color like a big girl. You will grab a pen, crayon, etc. and just color away. You also love to color on the easel.
*You love to talk on the phone as well. You will hold anything that resembles a phone up to your ear and "talk" to whoever might be listening!
*You definitely want to do things by yourself. You are very independent and always want to do what everyone else is doing.

You are such a precious little love! Your Daddy and I love you SO much!! We have enjoyed these last 18 months with you more than you know.

Bounce House Fun!

While Uncle Michael was still visiting, we took the girls to a place like Jump Zone near our house. Lainie and Emmie both love it! Their favorite thing to do is slide down the big slide, but Lainie also loves to jump in the bounce house.

Christmas Dinner

We celebrated Christmas with Justin's family at Erin and Mick's house. Erin did such a great job with Christmas dinner and the girls had fun opening all of their gifts. I definitely think the girls had a great Christmas overall! Justin and I both think our favorite memory this year will be watching them and seeing Christmas through our sweet girls' eyes.
