Life with Lainie Bug

Lainie had her weight check-up last week to make sure that she was gaining weight properly since her 18 month check-up. She weighed 24 lbs, 5 ozs (up 1 lb, 2 ozs in a month) and was in the 45th percentile for weight, so things looked good. The low weight at her 18 month check-up was definitely due to her being sick, which made me feel better!

Lainie was put it time-out this week for some reason I honestly can't remember. After she sits in time-out, I always go in the room and sit down with her to explain what she did wrong, tell her what I expect of her, and of course give her a hug and kiss before she is off to play again. Well, after I finished talking to her on this particular day, she went in and picked up her baby and marched her right to time-out. Justin found her sitting next to her baby and just talking away about what that baby had done wrong. It was the cutest thing!! I wish I had it on camera....she is too funny these days!

Muffins with Mom is tomorrow at school, so we are looking forward to that. Can you believe that she only has 4 days of school left?! This year of Mother's Day Out has flown by. I was so hesitant to put her in the program at the beginning of the year, but I am truly glad that I did. She loves her teacher and has learned so much over the year. She continues to amaze us each day with the new things she does.

Hope you are all having a great spring! I am posting a few new pics....one is of her after school one day with Riley. Of course, that is a common picture around here as she and Riley are always standing at the door waiting to go outside. The others are of her before we left for Baby Dedication at church last Sunday. Lainie had three friends that were dedicated last Sunday...Hudson (Maddie Grace's brother), Jake (Kade's brother) and Clara.

Lainie's 1st House

Our next-door neighbors asked us if we were interested in buying this little playhouse from them for Lainie. They said their kids were too old to play with it now, but they might have offered it to us because Lainie constantly was in their yard playing with it when we were outside! :) Justin and I decided to get it for her and she has loved having it in her own yard to play with!

Our visit to Gramma and Grampi's

Justin was asked to go to the Master's Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA, so Lainie and I decided to head up to NC to see Gramma and Grampi while he was gone. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed spending time with them. Lainie did great on the plane as she read books, colored and ate snacks. It is really sad to think that in August, we will have to buy her a seat and she will no longer be able to sit in my lap. I cannot believe how fast time goes by with her. Thanks Gramma and Grampi for a great visit!! We love you!

Lainie is all ready to head to the airport

While we were in NC, we decided to take Lainie to get her 2nd haircut!

Lainie LOVED riding in this car at the mall. I am not sure how many quarters Gramma ended up using on this little ride! :)

Lainie's little rocking chair...she loves to "rock-rock"

Silly girl!

Lainie and Sasha....this might be the sweetest dog in the world! Lainie loves Sasha and still talks about her everyday.

Lainie loves her Gramma and Grampi!

Some of Lainie's favorite things

Lainie truly is such a joy to have around. We absolutely love this sweet girl and enjoy every second we have with her. She is at such a fun age and is always making us laugh. It really is amazing how quickly she is changing these days. She loves music and will sing and dance all the time. Now, Justin and I love music too, but we certainly don't have the dance moves like Lainie does! :) She has learned so many things at school this year, but I definitely think songs are her number one priority when it comes to what she learns and brings home to teach Mommy and Daddy. She can do the hand motions and sing to.....

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
If You're Happy and You Know It
Jesus Loves Me
This Little Light of Mine
The Wheels on the Bus
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
The B-I-B-L-E
The Itsy Bitsy Spider
She is so cute to watch and constantly is wanting us to sing the songs to her so she can do the motions.

She also LOVES to read, which must come from Mommy because her Daddy is definitely not a big reader. She brings books to me all day long and wants me to read to her. She loves to look at the pictures and point out the different things on the pages.

She has learned lots of animal sounds....duck, cow, dog, lion, tiger, lamb, etc. Her favorite sound to make is the ROAR!!

Lainie still loves her baby doll and is definitely a nurturer! She will take her baby and lay it on the speaker in our den so she can change her diaper, wipe her nose, wash her hands and wash her face. She will take the wipes and diapers over there and just take such good care of her baby. She will also do this with Lambie. She loves jewelry, but big beaded necklaces are her favorite!

She is talking more and more every day and will try to say anything you ask her to say. She will say "hey" and wave to anyone. She still will talk jibberish, but is throwing more "real words" in the mix now.

As far as physical activity goes, she is jumping off the ground constantly, running all over the place, climbing everywhere, and still loves to play ball. She has more energy that she knows what to do with, but is sweet as she can be! We are blessed!!

Spring is Here!

Well, Justin and I have been debating whether or not we needed to have sod put down in our yard for quite some time now. Because our lot is on a slope, the seed that has been put down in the past has not taken as we had hoped it would. Unfortunately, most of it would run down the hill when it rained and did nothing to help our yard situation! We finally gave in and bought sod. I can honestly say I have NEVER been so excited about grass in all my life. Lainie finally has a nice yard to play in and grass to run on. YEA!! In order to celebrate, we went last weekend and bought lots of outdoor toys for Lainie Bug. The girl LOVES to be outside and we have taken full advantage of the beautiful weather lately. Here are some recent pictures of Lainie enjoying her new yard, toys and the park down the street from our house!

Lainie standing in our new grass!! It should start turning green in the next few weeks! Hooray!!

Learning how to cut the grass like Daddy with her pink, girly lawn mower! :)

Climbing up her new slide

Getting ready to slide down the slide....WEEEEEEEE!

Practicing her golf swing

Lainie's very favorite park activity

This sweet girl absolutely loves to swing!

Doctor Appointments

Mommy and Lainie went to see Dr. Crowe this morning to check on Miss Emmie. Things seem to be going well, but it looks like Emmie is going to give Lainie a run for her money with her birth weight. At almost 26 weeks, I am already measuring a week ahead of schedule. Keep in mind, I NEVER measured big with Lainie and she weighed 9 lbs, 2 ozs....oh my! It will be interesting to see how things progress as the pregnancy continues. I had my gestational diabetes test today, but I won't get the results until tomorrow. Lainie was so upset when her Mommy had to get stuck with a needle. :( She cried and cried until it was over. I am not sure if she was upset that the nurse was hurting her Mommy, or if she was scared that she was next!

Lainie did have her "18 Month" check-up when we went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago for Roseola. She was actually 19 months old at her appointment because I didn't have the heart to take her when the flu, stomach virus, strep throat, croup, etc. etc. was going around and she was not sick at all. Dr. Collins was a little concerned with her weight because she had actually lost an ounce since her 15-month check-up. We went to the doctor on Monday and she had not eaten since the prior Thursday due to her nasty Roseola virus, so I believe that is why her weight was low. Just to be sure, Dr. Collins told me to start giving her one bottle of Pediasure a day and come back for a weight check in a month. She was 32 inches long and in the 50th percentile for height. No shots were given at this appointment which was a relief for both Mommy and Lainie Bug!
