Tutu Cute!

Warning: You might want to sit down for this little shocker of an update!

Ya'll, you will never believe what happened in our house this week! I honestly don't know what to do with myself! Emmie had her 6 month pictures last Thursday and I decided that I would take the opportunity to use the precious tutu of Lainie's for Emmie to wear during her pictures. As I have posted before, Lainie is terrified of tutus, or so I thought! After the pictures were done, I put the tutu in a bag at the bottom of the stairs to take up to Emmie's closet. Welllllll, the other night, I was standing in the kitchen and I heard Justin say, "Oh Mommy, you better get the camera!" I turned around and Lainie was bringing the tutu to Justin so he could help her put it on. I almost had a coronary right there! Bless my man...he knows how long I have been waiting on this moment. In fact, I had really given up hope with Lainie and had put all of my tutu dreams on sweet Emmie with hopes that she would one day love tutus.

I grabbed the camera as soon as he put the tutu on her thinking the moment wouldn't last long. I truly believed that I would only have a small window of time to get pictures. Being the sweet prince that he is, Justin went upstairs to grab Lainie's princess shoes for her to put on. Ya'll, she walked around ALL night with her shoes and tutu on! Can you believe it???? ALL NIGHT! And would you believe that she has worn it everyday since then, along with her princess wand? Can you feel the excitement here?! I still cannot get over it.

I have to admit, the only thing I would change is the fact that she had on a brown outfit that didn't match the tutu at all. I really wanted to change her into proper tutu attire, but I figured that was giving into my OCD qualities, and I am really trying to fight that issue these days! :)

Happy Birthday Reagan!

Lainie and Emmie's friend, Reagan, had her fourth birthday party this weekend at Build-A-Bear. Before they went to make their animal, they had Chick-fil-A and cookie cake in the food court. Lainie chose a Hello Kitty to stuff and named her Kitty Cat! (A+ for originality! HA!) I took some pics of the kids while they were in the food court, but Justin ran off with my camera while we were in Build-A-Bear. Oh well....you will have to imagine her stuffing "Kitty Cat!" I know, you are devastated I didn't capture that for you on camera! :)

Daddy Doughnut Day

Thursday was Daddy Doughnut Day at Lainie's school. Lainie and Daddy had breakfast together and then Lainie gave him some gifts that she had made for him earlier in the week. They had a great time! Lainie loves her Daddy so much!

Jake Turns One!

Lainie and Emmie's sweet friend, Jake, turned one on January 10! We can hardly believe that he is already a year old. It is amazing how quickly time goes by with these sweet kiddos! Lainie and Emmie had lots of fun celebrating with Jake at his birthday party. Here are a few pics from the party and of the birthday boy.

Loving the birthday cake

Lainie's sweet friend, Maddie Grace or Gracie Grace as Lainie calls her!

Digging into some cake

DEEEEEEEELICIOUS!

Um, Where Did You Say My Milk Was?

Just had to document Emmie's first experience with baby food! She was not too sure about the whole idea, and she still isn't completely thrilled. I think she would be happy to take milk from a bottle until at least kindergarten if I would agree to it. She is too funny and SO different from Lainie. Lainie started rice cereal at 4 months and never looked back. She had her first baby food at 6 months and loved it. How can two kids from the same two parents be so different in so many ways?!

So, this is what carrots taste like?

Ugh..I think I liked carrots more than these peas

Ok, enough of this! Somebody pass me the milk please.

All cleaned up and completely over the food experience!

Oh, and by the way, Emmie got her second tooth this week...her bottom right!

The Master

So, I realize I have been showing a lot of love to Emmie lately on here, and Lainie has been given the shaft with pictures! However, I have to admit that it is not totally my fault! :) Sweet little Lainie has decided she no longer likes the camera, unless she is looking at pictures that have already been taken. For a mommy who is obsessed with picture taking, this is a hard one to swallow! I did, however, get a few cute shots of her while she was waiting for "Aunt Paige" to come pick her up for school the other morning.

Before I share those, here are a few "Lainie-isms" that have taken place here lately:

*Lainie can count to twenty! On second thought, does it count if she gets to twelve and then she says, "thirteen, da-teen, da-teen, da-teen, da-teen, da-teen, da-teen, twenty?! Um, ok, maybe she can just count to thirteen!

*Justin and I have started a bad habit by calling Emmie the Em-Meister. Poor thing...she doesn't stand a chance with that nickname, I know! Of course, Lainie picks up on everything these days and decided that she would begin calling her Em-Meister too, only her version sounds like Master. So, we were picking Emmie up from the church nursery yesterday and Lainie starts yelling, "Master, Master, there she is! Hey Master! Master, c'mon Master!" For those who haven't been around Lainie much, she is LOUD!!! Girlfriend has got some vocals! The poor nursery workers must think we are crazy. Can I say it again....poor Emmie! ahem....Master!

*Whenever it is Lainie's bedtime, Justin or I will take Lainie upstairs to brush her teeth, read her books and then say prayers. Well, when you ask her who she wants to pray for, she will say, "Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy, (do you get the point yet?), Mommy, Daddy, Lambie, Blanket, Mommy, Daddy, Emmie, Mommy, Daddy over and over and over again until we say ok! Not sure why she does this, but it happens EVERY night. Hilarious! Oh, and did I mention that she is smiling the entire time she is saying the names. I think she knows it is the last thing we do before bed, so she drags it out as long as she can...wait a minute! I just came to that conclusion....smart kid!

Did someone mention static in the room?

Happy 6 Months to Emmie! (a little late)

Ok, so I am a little late on this one, but Happy 6 Months to our sweet Emmie! I often look at her and wonder where the time has gone. I feel like she was just born, and yet she is already 6 months old! Here are some of the things that she is doing these days:

*Laughing, laughing and laughing some more at Lainie! She loves her big sister so much and thinks she is so funny. She was sitting in her exersaucer the other day watching Lainie jump up and down (imagine that....smile!) and was cackling out loud. Seeing them interact with each other is truly priceless.

*Eating baby food! She actually had it for the first time on her 6-month birthday. Can you believe it? She has tried peas, carrots, and applesauce and likes all three so far. I haven't tried rice cereal again and probably won't. I think I might buy some oatmeal this time and see how she does with it. We need something exciting for breakfast, but I refuse to force rice cereal down her one more time. That would be classified as cruel around here!

*Drooling, chewing on her fists, toes, toys, clothes....anything she can find. Poor baby is really working on getting some more teeth these days.

*Sleeping on her side. She just decided this week that she likes to roll over on her side to sleep. Now, has she rolled over from back to tummy yet?? Um, that would be NO! Ha! She can sit up unassisted, but can't roll over. Bless her...she is definitely a baby who despises tummy time. We don't do it around here, but I don't see that it is keeping her from anything. She sat up at 5 months, so this momma ain't pushing it!

*Spits....or whatever you want to call sticking her tongue between her lips and making that silly noise! She thinks it is fun! We do raise little ladies around here, don't we? Oy...I see two tomboys in my future! :)

*Is very ticklish, especially under her chin. I did do a little "horsey bite" (as my dad calls them) on her thigh the other day and she cackled. It was so funny!

*Loves her big, bubbly bath at night. She will just lay in that water and take it all in. She loves to relax in the bath tub.

I know there are more things, but this list is getting long and we need some pics of that sweet girl on her 1/2 birthday, now don't we?! As you will see, smiling was not on her "to do" list on that particular day!

Big, Bubbly Bath

Sweet Big Sister

Emmie sure is lucky to have a sweet big sister like Lainie! Lainie is so good to Emmie and really does try to help me out with her. Tonight, she was sitting in the den with Emmie and teaching her about shapes as she played with the shape sorter that Emmie got for Christmas. However, one of the cutest sister moments happened last night...

Lainie was downstairs with Justin and I in the den. Emmie had been in bed for a little while, but suddenly started crying. Lainie immediately heard her and let us know that Emmie was crying. She looked at Justin and said, "Stay here, I get her." She walked upstairs, climbed up on Emmie's crib and started talking to her in order to console her. She then turned on her mobile and turned off the night light. Justin and I were listening from the den, but then went up to check on them. We met Lainie at the door and, sure enough, we turned on the night light to take a peek in the crib, and Emmie was sound asleep again.

Now, how sweet is that??? Here is a picture of Lainie peeking in Emmie's crib just as she did last night.

Itty Bitty Toes

As I said in a previous post, I just love the stage when my baby girls started grabbing their toes. There is just something about those precious feet! Emmie and I had a little photo shoot tonight in order to capture this time for her. She loves her sweet, little toes these days!

We Don't Just Have Rolls for Dinner Around Here!

I mean, is there anything cuter than these sweet rolls?
