First Day of School

Lainie and Emmie had their first day of school on Tuesday. We went last week to find their classrooms and meet their teachers. Both girls got such sweet teachers this year. I was so impressed with all of them.

Lainie is starting Pre-K 5 this year and her teachers are Mrs. Katie and Mrs. Elise. She has one of her friends, Graham, in her class again. We were so excited that she knew someone! Her teachers are really focusing on getting the kids prepared for Kindergarten, so she has to go in each morning and hang her backpack, put up her lunchbox, put her water bottle in a tray, sign in (which is so funny!) and find her seat to begin an activity. I walked her in on her first day, and I think she was a little overwhelmed! She did great though, and loves school.

Emmie cried when we went to meet her teachers. She has Mrs. Tammy and Mrs. Angie, and they are so sweet to her. Both of her teachers really engaged her and got down on her level to talk to her. She warmed up really quickly and was super excited about school on her first day. She seems to really like it and walks in like such a big girl. She is in the 3 year old class this year, and will be learning lots of fun new things like writing her name.

Here are some pictures of the girls on their first day. Of course, I had their "first day clothes" picked out, and it ended up being in the 50's and 60's instead of warm and sunny. It literally went from the 90's to the 60's overnight. Needless to say, the cute summer outfits I had planned on putting on them didn't work. Emmie had to wear a sweater with the outfit she had on. No matter what they had on, I think they were super cute! :) Their backpacks are about as big as they are! Emmie literally almost fell over when she was wearing hers. Ha!

Peekaboo...Guess What I Am Up To?

Peekaboo! I see you! I have been in the midst of lots of fun changes this month, and wanted to make sure Mommy documented all of my big accomplishments.

First, I decided it was really fun to play peekaboo in my crib. The only problem with my game is I thought it was even more fun to pull up and try to stand up so I could see better. This decision ended in an automatic mattress lowering by my Daddy. Just when I am having some fun....the parents have to go and ruin it. It reminds me of something my mommy told me about my daddy when they were dating. When they were out one time and my mommy told him that he was being obnoxious, my daddy turned around and said to my mommy, "You suck the fun out of life!" From what I understand, he never said it again. :)

Second, I got one of my molars! Mommy is not sure when it actually poked through as she found it by accident. Little, itty, bitty, tiny things on the floor just call my name all day long and I found one to put in my mouth. Once again, Mommy "sucked the fun out of life" and went fishing for it trying to take it out of my mouth. While she was fishing, she happened upon my molar. Mommy says she was so proud of me because I never was fussy at all. I take things in stride in the teeth department!

Third, I started.....wait for it, wait for it.....crawling!! Things were just getting way too boring as I was laying around here waiting on everyone to wait on me hand and foot. I decided to take matters into my own hands and knees. Afterall, there were Cheerios on the floor waiting to be found and eaten. On August 21st, I crawled for the first time. It was a big day!

Fourth, I decided to finally say my first word. Mommy has said, "Mama" over and over and over and over and over to me. If she said "Mama" to me once, she said it 50,000 times a day over the past 10 months. I was so tired of hearing her trying to get me to say my first word, I finally caved and just said it. Boy, did I surprise her when I said "Dada!" on August 25th. :) Gotta keep it real around here!

Until next time when I decide to do something else exciting....

After the Party Party!

Instead of making all the kids watch Lainie and Emmie open their gifts, we decided just to let them play and eat cake while they were at the birthday party. :) After the girls' party was over, we came back to our house and celebrated again by opening presents. Granna, Aunt Ooey, Uncle Bennie, Uncle Dane, Uncle Michael, Brooke and Scott came to the house to celebrate too! The girls go so many sweet gifts and were so excited!

Birthday Party

The girls had their birthday party on August 20 at Let It Shine Gymnastics. This is where Lainie has taken gymnastics this year. I haven't mentioned it on the blog yet, but this is definitely her sport of choice. She absolutely LOVES gymnastics and would go everyday if she could!

Because the girls' birthdays are so close together, we decided to do another joint party for them. Lainie celebrated her 5th birthday and Emmie celebrated her 3rd. Since Emmie got to pick out her Strawberry Shortcake cake on her actual birthday, we let Lainie pick the cake for the party. She chose the Tangled cake, so we did a Tangled theme this year.

Here are some pics from the party!
